The Gamma Pi Alumni Association continues to enhance brand awareness and strengthen its impact on Alcorn State University by hosting the second annual Purple and Gold Day Legislative Reception. This event was held in partnership with the Alcorn State University Foundation Inc. at Johnny T’s Bistro and Blues in Jackson, MS, on Monday, February 16, 2026. The reception attracted over 25 state legislators and approximately 75 alumni and supporters of Alcorn State University. It served as a valuable opportunity for the foundation, alumni, and friends to network and discuss the university’s legislative priorities in an informal setting prior to convening at the state capital the following morning.
The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors including the ASU Foundation, AT&T, Hello Black Man, IMS Engineering, and Strategic Partnership Corp. Their contributions were instrumental in the success of the reception. Each occasion to advocate for Alcorn’s priorities and demonstrate the collective strength of the alumni is critical, especially as discussions regarding university funding and potential school closures persist. The Gamma Pi Alumni Association was well-represented, ensuring that legislators, alumni, and supporters felt welcomed and engaged throughout the event.
