4th QUARTER 2019 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

A native of Mississippi, Preston Lee shared his boyhood experience growing up in Ohio and Mississippi. Both states added value to his character as he grew into manhood. After graduating from Lanier High School in 1966, he attended Alcorn State University on an academic scholarship where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Education in 1970. He continued to pursue studies in the Graduate School of Architecture at Columbia University, Management Development at Purdue University, Asbesto Management Planning at Louisiana State University and HVAC Technical Certificate EPA 608 from Mainstream Engineering Corporation.

Preston Lee is a leader among men. He quietly moves to create change that improves the life and life style of others. While residing in Gary, Indiana, he helped charter the Calumet Alcorn Alumni Chapter. At Alcorn State University, he iniated the founding of Gamma Pi Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship,Gamma Pi Alumni Association, Non-Profit. He spearheaded the Annual Marino Casem Scholarship Golf Tournament, the Greater Jackson Kappa Foundation, Non-Profit and he is the founder of the first High School Junior MANRRS, Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Science, at Piney Woods Country Life School. He was one of th key leaders for the operation of the Kappa camp, KAMP, at Piney Woods.

In the Spring of 1969, Preston became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Franternity where he proudly celebrates 51 years of service. Among his awards received on the National level are Bert Watkins Award , Kappa League Advisor; 80th Distinguished Service Award, Guide Right Program. He also received recognition from the Southwestern Province Lifetime Achievement Award, Advisor of the Year from Gamma Rho Chapter, Tougaloo College and Advisor of the Year from Delta Delta Chapter, Jackson State University. In 2011, during the fraternity’s Centennal, he was honored with Special Recognition Award

Currently, Preston is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Word of Life Church, Gideon International, NAACP, Alcorn State National Alumni Association and Metro Jackson Chapter. He is married to his college sweetheart, Thomastine, and has two children, Latausha and Christopher Lee.
