David R. Maxwell, DDS; Lieutenant Colonel- U.S. Army Officer
Dr. Maxwell is a native of Holly Springs, MS and a 1996 graduate of Alcorn State University.
Most recently Dr. Maxwell was selected for promotion to the grade of Colonel in the U.S. Army
Dental Corp. He was awarded the Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Meharry Medical
College in 2005. Dr. Maxwell completed a General Practice Residency at Metro Nashville
General Hospital in 2006. He served as the Director of Dental Services at the Martin Luther King
Family Clinic located in Dallas, TX from 2006-2009 until he established a private practice,
Maximum Smiles Dental Center, which he operated as CEO/Owner Dentist in Rockwall, TX.
Dr. Maxwell has been a proud member of our Armed Forces since joining the Mississippi Army
National Guard at the age of 17 as an M60A3 Armored Tank Crewman. His service has taken
him to Tennessee where he served as a Medical Service Corp Officer, while he was a student at
Meharry. In 2009 he deployed as the Brigade Dental Surgeon for the 56 th Stryker Brigade, 28
Infantry Division, to Iraq in support of the Operation Iraqi Freedom. Dr. Maxwell was awarded
the Combat Medic Badge (CMB) for his action under fire of the enemy. His Professional Military
Education includes the Army’s Command and General Staff College, and he is currently be
considered for the Army’s War College; which is the Armed Services highest professional
military educational pursuit.
Dr. Maxwell is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and has served the
fraternity in the following capacities: 1) Polemarch- Gamma Pi Chapter, Alcorn State University,
2) Polemarch- Kappa Chapter, Meharry Medical College, 3) Junior Vice Province Polemarch-
South Central Province, and he is currently serving as the Membership Chairman of the Gamma
Pi Alumni Association.
He is married to his college sweetheart, the former Yvonne P. McIntosh, and they have two
beautiful daughters, McKelvie and Gabrielle. McKelvie is keeping the family tradition as she is
currently a Junior at Alcorn where she became her mother’s sorority sister as a member of the
Gamma Phi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Gabrielle is a sophomore in
high school where she leads the band as the first female Drum Major. Dr. Maxwell considers
himself a servant leader, and looks forward to carrying the torch for Kappa for many years to
come alongside his esteemed brothers in the interest of all mankind.
