2nd QUARTER 2024 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Brother Terence Lynch is the Director of the Office of Science Support within the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Adminstration (NOAA) where he oversees NOAA’s 16 Cooperative Institutes, NOAA Library, Science Advisory Board, and Ocean Research Advisory Panel.

Brother Lynch is a native of Shreveport, LA who arrived on the campus of Alcorn State in 1994 as a result of a band scholarship. Lynch would later graduate with a B.S. in General Agriculture and Biology in 1998 and a M.S. in Agricultural Education in 1999. After leaving Alcorn, Lynch matriculated to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2001.

Brother Lynch is a Life Member who was initiated into Gamma Pi in the Spring of 1996. He also is a charter member of the Blacksburg (VA) Alumni Chapter, a Life Member of the Eastern Province and a Life Member of the Gamma Pi Alumni Association.

Brother Lynch’s professional career began in 2001 as a Supervisory Managment & Program Analyst with the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service’s (ARS) National Program Staff in Beltsville, MD where he was assigned to the Natural Resources & Sustainable Agricultural Systems National Program. In 2004, he was appointed Acting Peer Review Coordinator by the USDA-ARS Associate Administrator to lead the agency’s Office of Scientific Quality and Review. In 2006, Lynch transitioned to the USDA-Risk Management Agency in Washington, DC as their Strategic Planner and later transferred to NOAA.

Since joining NOAA in 2007, Lynch has benefited from several leadership assignments and is a graduate of NOAA’s Leadership and Competencies and Development Program (LCDP) Class X.  Brother Lynch is also a 2017 Excellence in Government Fellow with the Partnership for Public Service.  Additionally, Brother Lynch has obtained certifications in Project Management from George Washington University and in Legislative Affairs & Studies from the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University.  Terence is also a graduate of the inaugural class of the General Services Administration Performance Improvement Council’s Government Performance Ambassador Program.

Brother Lynch is married to Dr. Kristina Lynch and they have two children. Lynch and his wife are the proud owners of two businesses: Grace Legacy LLC and Premier Vitality IV and Wellness Center. In his free time, you can find him researching/pursuing investment opportunities to build wealth or officiating football, basketball, lacrosse, and field hockey.
